IF YOU LIKE THEM TOO: You’re sure you’ve read all the signs right, and their mates have been particularly clingy lately, which hopefully means they’re trying to gain a little inside info on your feelings. You’re just as smitten as the special someone seems to be so what are you waiting for?! Grab the opportunity to take things into dating mode as soon as you can! Ask them out however you want; by text message, email, letter, via a mate as long as they don’t set you up or even to their face, whatever feels most comfortable for you. Don’t be influenced by the opinions of other people when you’re starting a new relationship, however hard it might be. When you’ve done the hard bit by asking them out, and if you’ve got the answer you wanted, make the most of your time together by reading our other articles on dating and you’ll be well on your way to success! Even if things don’t work out after a while, enjoy it while it lasts, and try your hardest to stay friends afterwards. IF YOU DON’T FEEL THE SAME WAY: The important thing in this kind of situation is to let them down gently. Don’t tell all your mates and embarrass them, and if they have the guts to ask you out themselves give them a little respect, even if you don’t fancy them too. - When you don’t feel the same way, you need tell them exactly that, don’t lead them on if there’s no chance of a change of heart in the near future.
- Whatever you do, if you fancy someone else don’t tell them who it is because they will be jealous and will only end up making an enemy.
- If you honestly fancy them too, but have been put off by what other people think, you need to decide why you’re letting others influence you so much. It’s your life and your decision, so if you think it could work go for it while the chance is there and hope your friends will like him or her as they get to know them.
- Sometimes, not knowing someone well enough is a reason for turning down an offer you normally couldn’t refuse. Tell them what you’re thinking, and if they like you that much they will make the effort to try friendship before taking things any further.
