Planning a Christmas Party There are Christmas 'prezzies' spilling out of my cupboard waiting to be wrapped, cards ready to be given out, and everyone is looking forward to the end of school. There’s just one thing missing – a Christmas Party! Being the most organised 'party animal' out of my mates, it’s fallen into my hands to organise it! So, with the help of my friends, here’s a guide to plan your own 'funky' Christmas Party! -
Get a group of mates together to decide whose parents will be the easiest to persuade! You either need a willing parent to book a hall or a very brave parent that will agree to a house party. A house party is a VERY bad idea if guests plan to arrive a little bit ‘merry’, so booking a hall is probably your best bet! -
A hall can be booked for about £50 if you’re lucky, so agree on a day that is good for all of your friends and get someone over 18 to book it.
-
You now need to find a way to finance your party. Ask around to see whether people would be willing to pay about £1, or get your mates to put in £5 or £10 each (depending on how many there are of you organising it). -
If you are intending to cover your costs yourselves, you can invite only the people you want to be there...getting a donation towards the party is a little more open ended. Don’t be surprised if you see your worst enemy or ex sitting in the corner! Make some festive invitations that can be given to your intended guests, or if you don’t mind who goes, make some posters that can be put up around school and in your year’s registers. Let your mates from outside school know the details too. Check that the hall is booked for the right date, and start getting the money together. You could sell raffle tickets so that you know who is and isn’t intending to come to the party. You will need to assure your guests that all money will go towards the hall, decorations, food and drink… you can’t keep it for yourselves unfortunately!
There is no party without music, so ask one of the lads at school if he would like to do a bit of 'DJing'. If that won’t work, you could always bring a music system from home with some cool CD’s and turn the volume up!
Buy some nibbles, and get your decorations sorted out before the day of the party. On the big night get to the hall a couple of hours early so that you can put the decorations up, and put the food and drink out. Now all you have to do is get changed and get ready to PARTY!!! Have fun!
