Pupiline Meets the Stars...Of The Spectacular Show @ The Millennium Dome, Greenwich, London (Part 2) NAME: Colin White AGE: 20
Colin is one of the dancers in the Millennium Dome show, and having only become interested in dance 6 years ago - the chance to have a part in this event was a huge achievement. Colin describes the honour in performing as "unreal" and when talking to him, he obviously has a genuine enthusiasm and passion for what he does.
Colin's achievements are of special meaning to pupiline because of the way he got into dance in the first place. Suffering from a rare condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (meaning he has to get around in a wheelchair). Colin told us how he was a victim of bullying when he was younger - mainly because of his disability, and about the stress and upset that this caused him - ultimately meaning that he had to leave school at the age of only 14.
So, despite having to go through prejudice and ignorance (also having not completed his GCSE's), Colin decided to get into dance and performing (starting out through local dance groups) - bouncing back from his bad experiences and turning a negative into a positive.
Watching Colin perform in the main arena, he is notably the only performer in a wheelchair - but this makes his routines even more amazing, and you begin to wonder how exactly he's keeping up with everything that's going on! We asked him if he ever got bored with performing the same thing every day, but he told us that the buzz never wears off and that he enjoys every minute of every performance.
