A Guide To...Alton Towers Alton Towers is the most popular theme park in the UK, with many exciting roller coasters and attractions, making it a perfect day out for a gang of mates or all the family. Its central location means that it is easy to get to from pretty much all of England, Wales and Scotland. The Park is divided in to 13 different areas, all with a themed edge. The place to hit first is the 'X-Sector', home to the infamous Oblivion, with a vertical drop that will leave you questioning how you survived. The 'Forbidden Valley' houses the 'Nemesis' another thrill-a-minute fun-feast; other infamous rides include the 'Corkscrew' and the 'Hex'.

It is easy to get to by car or by rail, from the M1, take Junction 23a if coming from the north or junction28 from the South, from the M6 take Junction 15 from the North, Junction 16 if from the south. Once you turn off keep those eyes peeled for signposts and it should be easy enough to find. During its opening season Midland Mainline and Virgin Trains offer a discount rail package.
