The Best Nintendo Games to get this Christmas...Part 1

Wanna get a N64 or Gameboy game for Christmas, but not sure which one yet? Well here's the first in a two-part handy guide to four of the best Nintendo games around at the moment.

Mario Tennis

Console: N64, Gameboy Colour
Price: N64- £45, Gameboy Colour- around £25
Number of players: 1-4

This is a different kind of sports game. Featuring Nintendo characters, this is a fun and imaginative game. You can choose from a variety of characters, including Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser, Newbies Katherine and Boo, and many more. There are four different kinds of multiplayer modes, which include Singles, with 2 players, Doubles, with four players, Ring shot, where you have to try and hit the ball through rings that float above the net, and Bowser, where you play on a tilting arena, and different cups to win.

The Gameboy colour version is coming soon, and you will be able to create your own character, then connect to the transfer pack, to lay with your character in the N64 version.

A fun, exciting sports game, which is highly recommnded.

Perfect Dark

Console: N64/gameboy colour (the N64 game has an 18 certificate)
Price: N64- £50, Gameboy colour- £25
Number of players: N64 version- 1-2 players in the game, 1-4 players in multiplayer. Gameboy colour version: 1 player.

This game is the sequel to 'Goldeneye', although it doesn't have anything to do with James Bond. It features a woman called Joanna Dark, who got an A++ in her training (hence the name 'Perfect Dark'). You have to defeat Mr. Blonde and evil aliens- the Skedar, before they take over the world and capture the president. It consists of around 12 levels, in 3 difficulties- agent, secret agent, and perfect agent. There are lots of different guns, which you earn in every level, they include updates of the 'Goldeneye' weapons.

The game also features a great multiplayer, you can have up to 4 players, and, if you don't have any friends, you can have sim players. There are lots of different heads and bodies to choose from (including the creator of Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto!). The game also has a co-op mode, so you can go through all the levels with a friend or sibling.

The N64 game's 18 certificate could be a problem for you if you're under 18, because of the realistic violence and swearing. For the sqeamish, however, you can take away the swearing, and make the blood into colourful paint, or make the blood go away completely.

The Gameboy colour version is the story of the training missions that Joanna had to go through, and her first mission. The graphics are pretty good (if you can excuse the 'Bedhead' drawing of Joanna on the right of the screen) and it's a pretty good game. Also, if you have the N64 version and a Gameboy transfer pack as well, you can put it into the transfer pack and have access to 4 cheats- cloaking device, hurricane fists, R-Tracker and all guns, without having to do anything!

An essential part of your N64 collection- definitely get it.
