When you think about drugs one that never springs immediately to mind is alcohol, of course everybody knows it’s a drug but that word doesn't seem right for it, does it? Drugs are something that are illegal and can kill you…right? Alcohol is something that is a part of day-to-day life, I mean it even figures in religious ceremonies, doesn’t it. They don’t give E out in church. Well that might seem like a good enough reason to disassociate alcohol from illegal drugs but it ignores its potential dangers. Think about it more sensibly and you’ll find so many comparisons and similarities between alcohol and illegal drugs that you may start to feel that alcohol should be made illegal…simply for one reason out of all drugs it is the biggest killer.
If we are being honest everybody has had at least one drink before they turn 18, the age when you are legally allowed to buy it and drink in public. You’re allowed to have it with a meal when you’re 16 in a pub or restaurant and everybody has had the odd celebratory drink on that special family occasion. Also while we’re being honest a large amount of us have been pretty pissed a few times, that’s not being irresponsible it’s the truth, ignore the truth and it gets you nowhere. How can such claims be made? Well I did it, all my friends did and to top it off when was the last time a week went by when there wasn’t some new study in the paper showing how all teenagers are drunks?
But without spoiling the fun of the party has anyone stopped to think about alcohol properly?
Oh so here comes the patronising bit about how bad it is for you…blardy-blardy-blahhhhhh…. NO, you should know this site by now; these articles won’t be like that.
