The Sims

Maxis have bounced backed onto the simulation scene with The Sims, probably the best 'life sim' ever produced. Maxis were started about 20-30 years ago when Will Wright had a dream  where you could run a city and control the actions of people. In The Sims, you control the people in your cities. Build their houses, buy their furniture and live their lives.

The gameplay is amazing, the interface of the game is astounding, and it is split into 5 control areas live, buy, build, camera and settings. Clicking the 'buy' option allows you to purchase items for your Sims (the little people who live in the world you create) from fire alarms to hot tubs. Clicking the 'build' option allows you tobuild your Sims homes, whilst the 'camera' option lets you take pictures of your Sims.

The graphics and sound are a bit primitive using polygon technology, instead of 3D software rendering, but it's the nice touches that make it an all round good game.
