You Are Not A Model, You Are A Real Person!

Are you dressing to impress?

Well, if you are a female person of our society then of course you are, that's what girlies do!!
But hang on a mo, do you buy the latest design of cropped trousers because they look good on Naomi
Campbell or because they look good on you and you feel comfortable?
To look good I believe you need to feel good as well, and you need to be yourself and be happy with who you are, however there is a growing problem that many young girls out there are trying too hard to be like their role models.

To find out more about models and how their looks can influence other young girls, read on.

Everyone likes to look good, why not, we can then feel good about ourselves, and we may even be lucky enough to attract someone of the opposite sex! The problems start when we look in the mirror and we see something that we dont want to see, yes i know a big red spot on your forehead, no, its when we are unhappy with the way we look. Many factors can be the trigger of these feelings

Catalogues

Picture this: You are looking through your catalogue in the hope of finding something sparkly and spangley to wear out next weekend for your best bud's birthday 'night out' you flip over the page and finally find something that you think you like, then you stop and look at the girl who's modelling your dress, how do you feel?

Answer: Before you began looking at the catalogue you probably felt really excited and motivated towards buying something for your bud's night out, but when someone else is modelling your dress, it suddenly seems less appealing. Research has shown that girls' motivation levels can easily be destroyed by simply showing them pictures of models.

Big Is Beautiful

However, I think that if young girls were to see 'everyday' girlies modelling their clothes, like your average next-door neighbour then people would feel more relaxed and comfortable. It is very off-putting to find that your newly brought black dress looks better on Victoria Beckham that it does on you. False images are a bad thing and I feel that us girlies are given false hopes, but don't worry girls it's simply advertising to earn money and just imagine what poor old Posh Spice looks like when she gets up in the morning, (its a horrible thought!!) but no one looks great in the morning do they?

Eating the right kinda food

Eating is a way for our body to function, so we need to eat something, and we all know that we never eat healthily 100% of the time, but when we start to eat nothing at all we then need help.

Why Do People turn To a No-Food Diet?

When we look at models they seem to have long white faces that look tired and unwell, their bodies are barely visible and they have no definite shape or structure. Is this the image that advertisers want to convey? Is this what we want young people to believe is the right way to be in order to look good and be successful?

This is wrong, everyone is who they are and who they want to be, and images like this encourage young girlies to feel that this is the right way. As a result the only way to look as good as the models (DO THEY REALLY LOOK GOOD) is to eat nothing. This eating disorder is known as ANOREXIA and it is a growing problem in many young girls. If you feel that you or anyone else needs help then please contact the HELPLINE number. Ideas on how to eat healthily can be found on other pupiline web pages.

Images of models can be found everywhere that we look, and I think that these images need to be changed to create a better lifestyle for young people, especially us girlies.

Every young female out there reading this must be proud of who you are, if everyone was the same the world be terribly boring and there would be no good looking blokes to swoon over!!! Being an individual is important and models whatever shape or size will never be you, and you will never be them, so be happy and enjoy being you!

Question

When I look in magazines and see these models I think, I want to be like her with her golden hair, blue eyes and not one spot, I feel so down, every other page in the magazine is plastered with faces of pretty girls!

Answer: Everyone is pretty in his or her own way, and you must not think that to be pretty you need to be a model. In everyday life every teenage girl will experience their first outbreak of spots, this is bad, I know but everyone is in the same boat. Model's can't rule your life, be yourself.

Models are an image and they are not real, they are just made to perfection and this is not the human race, this is how we want people to be, but we cannot control what we look like, as we can food. You need to enjoy life as you, there is no harm in wanting to look good, but if you feel that you are not eating and you see that being thin is the right way to be then please ring the helpline number at the bottom of this page.

REMEMBER, You are loved and liked for who you are, not for what you look like. So eat healthily and shop till ya drop!!!!
