Eat And Enjoy...A Guide To Eating Well

You can get all the goodness you need from a whole range of delicious foods and drinks. Try to eat three regular meals a day with elements from all the food groups. Remember, balance is best.

Snack attack
Healthy snacks like carrots, fruit and even popcorn (without butter) will do you a power of good. Low-fat ice cream or yoghurt might appeal too. But that doesn't mean you can't have the odd bit of chocolate or packet of crisps. These things are fine in moderation.

Home truths
What do your parents give you to eat? If you think it could be healthier, perhaps including more fruit and vegetables, why not tell them? You could suggest they buy some different foods. That way you might be doing the whole family a favour. Or how about doing a spot of cooking yourself? Choose a tasty, healthy dish and serve it up for everyone.

Keep on moving
Regular exercise of some sort helps too. It gives you a good appetite, so you'll enjoy your food even more.

A well balanced sandwich!!!Supplements
The best way to get all the nutrients you need is through a balanced, healthy diet. That means plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, grains, dairy products, with some fish and meat.

However, sometimes a doctor recommends or prescribes supplements if you have a particular mineral or vitamin deficiency. That can happen for several reasons, for instance if you can't absorb the nutrients from food or if your nutritional needs increase, as they do in pregnancy.
It's worth remembering that smoking and too much alcohol, as well as other kinds of drugs, all destroy vitamins and minerals.
If you're wondering whether you need to take supplements, it's best to consult your doctor.
