World O'Gadgets...

Greetings gadget fans!David O'Gadget here - Pupiline's resident gadget boffin, reporting on some of the best gadgets available to you.

Each week, I'll be telling you what's caught my beady gadget eye, with a run-down of gizmos that are simply too corking to ignore - Oh boy!

Star Wars Lightsabre Remote Controls.

Sigh. Even a gadget freak like myself has to relax sometimes and just sit down in front of the telly. I'll tell you what though: aren't TV remote control's boring? They're just boring black boxes….

Well not anymore! - I've discovered a great new gadget - "StarWars Lightsabre Remote Controls."

These fun remotes come complete with realistic sound effects - you just point them at the TV and they'll switch the channel with an authentic StarWars noise!

$39.95 from www.smarthome.com

Barking Intruder Alarm

Woof! - I'd like to show you this "Barking Intruder Alarm" gadget.

Now I don't know about you, but I'm so protective of my collection of gadgets at home that I really could do with some kind of security system. Well, this clever alarm offers all the protection of a guard dog - without all the mess!

The "Barking Intruder Alarm" gadget can sense intruders within a 15ft radius, and will monitor your home 24 hours a day - letting out a scary "bark" when evil-doers are sensed and then a "growl" whenever they approach; even detecting through 4" thick walls - Crumbs!

$89.95 from www.smarthome.com

(Requires 4 "D" batteries)

Glowing Light Switch

"CLUNK BASH CLATTER" - that's the sound I make in the middle of the night when I fancy a rich tea biscuit but can't find the light switch. Oh boy! I often end up tripping over some gadgets I've left on the floor, causing a horrible mess.

Well thanks to this simple but O' so clever "Glowing Light Switch" gadget, I'll never have to worry about that again.

These switchplates glow in the dark, so you won't need to feel around in the blackness to turn the lights on.

"The simple gadgets are often the best!"

$9.95 from www.smarthome.com

Mosquito Forcefield Watch

"BizzzzzzzBizzzzzzzz" - that's the sound that pesky mosquitos make when they come in my bedroom to try and bite me.

This smart "Mosquito Forcefield Watch" gadget is just what I need to keep those irritating insects at bay. Using ultrasonic technology, this clever watch replicates the wing beat frequency of both a dragonfly - the mosquito's most dreaded enemy, and a male mosquito. This repels the female variety (the ones which bite) and puts a stop to the horrible flying bugs - Oh boy!

The "Mosquito Forcefield Watch" gadget measures just 1" by 3/8" and even has a built in flashlight.

$19.99 from www.iGadget.com

Voice Changer

And finally for this week: an electronic "Voice Changer" gadget - crumbs!

If any of you have seen the "Scream" movies, then you'll know all about this particular gadget. Basically, you connect it to your telephone's handset and it miraculously changes your voice - making you sound like up to eight different people. This could be really handy if you're in the house on your own, and you want to disguise your voice for security, but…. you could also play some great practical jokes with your new gadget and scare your friends! (But don't say I told you to do that)

Requires 3 AA batteries.

$46.00 from www.iGadget.com

Well that's just about it for this week. I do hope you've enjoyed my collection of gadgets - and now, it's time to ask you a favour.

It would be really tremendous if you'd join my "Gadget Gang" and send in details of any gadgets that are brill and which you think everyone should know about. All you budding inventors out there could even send in your ideas for gadgets that you think should be made - send your ideas to: davidogadget@pupiline.net

See you next time....
