The MicroSkate Scooter...

When I first asked my mate from Oz - Lachlan - to let me know what was cool in Oz I never expected him to come up with something soooo cool. My ravings are about the MicroSkate Scooter, a mini kick-scooter that I got from CityBug scooters. The MicroScate scooter is a light, small and unbelievably cool bit of kit. It folds down to a tiny 60 cm long, which is small enough to fit in a bag.

I tried out the scooter myself, along with my brother - the pictures are here. Take a look at our shockingly bad attempts to try and look like "sk8ers"!! =).

The handlebars can fold up and down, to suit your height, and the deck (that's the flat bit for all you non-skaters, which included me!) is big enough to take one very large foot, or two if you have small feet like me! There is a very effective brake on the rear wheel; and the whole thing is loaded with all the features you need.

The scooter performs like a skateboard, and the same sort of tricks can be done on it, along with some BMXing ones. Unfortunately I'm not good enough to do these, but all you skaters out there will have great fun! The scooter is not just useful for pulling off tricks, to show off the girl or lad down the road, it's pretty nifty for nipping to the shops and back, moving around college. The scooter is a great alternative to having to use a bike or skateboard.

Overall it's a top notch, essential bit of all-round kit - much cooler than a mountain bike.

The aluminium will last for years, it's the same that aeroplanes are made of, and you don't see them falling out of the sky. The wheels are replaceable, and available at all good skating shops, and the rear brake is very very cool, and will save you countless times from NasTy WiPeOuTs!

Still after the first couple of rides, and by keeping my foot on the brake, I was far more stable, and beginning to pull tricks.
