11th April 2000 Heads back anti-bullying website AN anti-bullying website set up by a Colchester schoolboy has received the backing of two leading national teaching organisations. 15 year old Oli Watts, a pupil at the Gilberd School, launched Pupiline.Net just over a month ago after being bullied at his previous school. The site has been incredibly successful receiving over 150,000 hits in just a matter of weeks since it was launched. Now Pupiline has been given a stamp of approval from the National Association of Head Teachers and the Secondary Heads Association. NAHT General Secretary David Hart said: "We are very happy to endorse the Pupiline site. It is an excellent resource for young people, especially for the victims of bullying and their parents." The site has also received endorsements from BBC TV presenter, Robert-Kilroy Silk, Watchdog’s TV doctor, Dr David Bull and Ipswich Town footballer Matt Holland who has written two features for Pupiline. Oli, who lives in Suffolk with his parents, who are both teachers, and his younger brother Harry, said of his latest support, "It’s fantastic news that the NAHT and the SHA are backing what I am doing. It means a lot to me. I think it shows just how important Pupiline is and how it can play a big part in helping people to become more aware about the issue of bullying. I also think it shows that teachers are taking it seriously and want to help stamp it out. I’ve really enjoyed creating the website and I know from the discussion forum on the site that it’s helping a lot of other people." Oli’s father, David, added: "We are extremely proud of what Oli has achieved and how he has turned an experience that could have really set him back into a sort of force for good. It is very gratifying to see movers and shakers in education taking him and his efforts seriously too." Anyone wanting to check out Oli’s site can do so at www.pupiline.net.
