Pop Update 8

What's Up In the 'World of Pop',

- absolutely fantastic
- still worth buying
- not bad
- definitely not one to buy
- who's bright idea was it to release this as a song?

Melanie B - Tell Me

Although a fan of the Spice Girls, I'm not too sure about Mel B's latest single. It has a good groove and should do well in the charts. Out of all of these weeks' releases, this is one of the best singles available. It does have a certain quality however that I don't like. I dare say the more times I hear it, the more I will like it.

Architects - Body Groove

I quite like this song - especially the beginning. I'm not normally a big fan of the club scene, but this really isn't bad. It's very catchy and, surprisingly, I have been known to sing along (or hum).

Placebo - Slave to the Wage

Despite the fact that the lead singer scares me, Placebo's latest release, is pretty good. I only like two songs of Placebo's, but after reviewing this song and listening to it countless times, I think I could be persuaded to like this song as well.

Roni Size - Who Told You?

I really don't like this song. I know some songs are repetitive but this is ridiculous. "Who Told You?" - I don't care. Out of all of the songs this week, please, please don't even entertain the idea of buying this one (see Chris M's alternative review below).

Chris M's review of 'Who Told You?' By Roni Size

This is probably the pick of the week for me and is an absolutle stormer of a song. Although it may be repitive, a lot of good dance and pop music has this kind of insanely catchy hook that gets in your brain and won't leave it alone till your singing it all day, that's what make it so good. It would be cool if you all went out and bought it, as this is a song that NEEDS to be high in the charts because they're sooooo boring and safe these days. Where's the cool stuff in the charts? Where's the danger?

Have your say - everybody has a different taste in music, no two people are the same, that's what makes it so interesting, so please CONTACT US, and have your say, we really want to know. If your review's good enough then we'll put it on the site.

-Carla
