Movie Review: Valentine @ UGC Cinemas Surely the teen horror movie is dead? Scary Movie and Scream saw to that, with parody and mickey-taking. Well apparently not as along comes Valentine. Valentine @ UGC Cinema, Ipswich STARRING: Denise Richards, David Boreanz, Marley Shelton, Jessica Capshaw, Daniel Cosgrove, Jessica Cauffiel, Katherine Hiegl CERTIFICATE: LINE ON THE POSTER: Remember that kid everyone ignored on Valentine's Day? - He remembers you. WHAT HAPPENS: As the opening credits play out we see a geeky schoolboy ask all the pretty girls to dance at the high school Valentine's ball, he's rejected and beaten up by the jocks. Ten years later the girls reunite after the murder of one of their friends (Heigl) and try to piece together who did it. The finger points to the weird kid form high school, Jeremy Melton, but he's disappeared after years in a mental institute. So it's a race against time to discover who he really is, as all of the girls one by one receive morbid valentine day cards informing of them of their impending brutal murder. Will they find him and stop him before they all die? ANY GOOD?: This film is so bad it fits in the category 'you're better off doing exercise on a cold day than going to the cinema if this is all that's on', a category which is slightly above 'so bad it's good'. It's a film that quickly descends into situations where the cutting room floor currently houses the majority of the plot, as there are so many 'who's this', 'where's he come from', 'ain't seen him before', 'how did they get here', 'this film is complete bollocks' moments. Ok there are some nice looking women for the blokes, TV's Angel (Boreanz) for the girls and extravagant deaths for the sickos but this film is truly dreadful. Do yourself a favour, stay in and rent 'Halloween' out, it's the same idea but with the difference that it is actually good. BEST BIT: The one redeeming feature of this abysmal 7th rate slasher pic is that the cherub mask the killer wears is fairly original and scary and that really is it. INTERESTING FACT: The first victim of the film is foxy star of the TV programme Roswell High, Katherine Heigl, pity she had to go so early. LIKED IT, TRY: Halloween, Scream, Friday the 13th Part2 or The Faculty RATING:
