Film Review: What Women Want @ UGC Cinema, Ipswich

Mel Gibson...he had a dreadful Scottish accent in 'Braveheart' and killed the English, he was American in 'The Patriot' and killed the English. Now he's trying to find out what makes Women tick, but is it any good? We took a look.

What Women Want @ UGC Cinema, Ipswich

STARRING: Mel Gibson, Helen Hunt, Marisa Tomei, Alan Alder, Ashley Johnsen, Lauren Holly

CERTIFICATE:

LINE ON THE POSTER: He has the power to hear everything women are thinking. Finally... a man is listening.

WHAT HAPPENS: Nick Marshall (Mel Gibson) advertising hotshot, charmer and sexist thinks he's God's gift to women and really plays up to his playboy status. Unfortunately when the big promotion goes to someone else, Nick has to get in touch with his feminine side, as his new boss is a woman (Hunt). However when trying to find out 'what women want', Nick has a little accident and bizarrely he can hear what women are thinking...and they don't like him. Though at first it annoys him he finds out that it's a gift he can use to his advantage.

ANY GOOD: Yeah, not bad. Although it's a bit too long and drags towards the end, it's really funny and will have the majority of the cinema laughing out loud. Mel is the perfect choice, as 'smoothie' Nick, and Hunt is a good choice to play the hard woman with a heart. Although it has a really cool and different idea, about hearing what people think, the film itself is pretty predictable but enjoyable all the same.

BEST BIT: Every single bit where Nick (Mel) can hear what women are thinking is really really funny.

INTERESTING FACT: Star of this film and the Mad Max and Lethal Weapon series Mel Gibson has started to eat meat raw, as part of a diet to that will help him live longer...nice.

LIKED IT, TRY: When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle or Keeping the Faith
