Road Trip @ Odeon, Ipswich

STARRING: Breckin Meyer, Seann William Scott, Amy Smart, Tom Greene.

VERDICT: The best teen/college comedy for ages…well since American Pie anyway.

The comedy movie that tells the tale of a group of students at an American College/High School, you can't beat it, well you couldn't until the whole market was flooded with them, over the last two years. Although some were absolute quality (toss your graduation cap in the air American Pie and Election) some were complete crap and others worse than that (sit in the corner, in shame, Drive Me Crazy).

However the whole genre kicked off with some absolutely sparkling films, in particular National Lampoon's Animal House, one of the funniest movies of all time, and few teen/college movies have entered the same league as it, until now. Road Trip continues in this (and last) years tradition of having a plot involving a group of teens with sex on their minds and a script packed with gross-out gags. However it is a movie of undoubted quality.

The premise is simple, Josh (Meyer) has been in love with Tiff since they were four years old, but they're oh so loving relationship now faces a huge test, they're going to separate Universities. Everything's going fine until Tiff stops calling, Josh gets lonely and spends the night....and the next morning with the drop dead gorgeous Beth (the heavenly Amy Smart), videotaping the whole shooting match in the process, and guess what, the tape is "accidentally" posted to Tiff. Now horror of horrors, Tiff rings in distress because her Granddad's dead, the reason why she's been AWOL, so Josh sets off with his college mates, to travel 2,000 miles, to get to the tape before his girlfriend does. This is just in the first 30 minutes, and there is hell of lot more in store.

While having some weaknesses, all the characters look well into their twenties (they always do, don't they) and MTV funny man, Tom Greene, is criminally under used, this movie will keep you entertained from the moment it starts, right through to when the credits start to roll. So what if the people look too good and life at school/college is never like this, sit back, enjoy and you might laugh yourself to death.
