The Hunter, Hunts Out The Gossip ... First Edition

Hi, pupiline's very own movie gossip hunter here with a load of sneakily thrifted news hot off the presses, some more reliable and truthful than others, but never the less bringing you up to date with all the rumblings in the big bad movie world.

First up and hot as a Hot dog smothered in English mustard, are some revelations about the new Star Wars film. Some say its called Balance of the Force but probably the same some that said episode one would also be called that, but we ended up with the 'Jar-Jar Menace' or whatever. Anyway, round these parts its still called Eppie 2 and some news has come in concerning the badass Jedi Mace Windu, played by Pupiline fave Samuel. L Jackson. The film's Stunt co-ordinator Nick Gillard has said that Mace's character will be a cool lethal Jedi, hopefully meaning we'll get some wicked fight sequences. Its rumoured that he may be in a key final battle with a team of bounty hunters hired by Darth Sidious to destroy the Jedi, and this team will include everybody's top character Bobba-Fett, but if this is true or not is highly debatable. Though we have been guaranteed more and better battle sequences so try to keep the excitement down as its still nearly two years away.

Hot on the heels of the Star Wars franchise is that of the Matrix, with two sequels currently in the Pipeline, what we do know is that there will be people with the ability to fly a lot more kung-fu action, as marshall arts expert Jet-Li is persistently rumoured to be on board. Hot news though concerns a new character among the rebels called Niobe, an ex- of Morpheus, so to provide that little bit of tension provided by Neo and trinity in the first episode. She has yet to be cast, but its said studio execs are looking for a real babe with intelligence but is as hard as nails, Angelina Jolie anybody?

Oscar-laden American Beauty director, Sam Mendes' new film looks likely to be a thirties gangster story based on M.A Collins' comic book 'Road to Perdition'. The big news though is that Tom Hanks looks likely to sign on the dotted line for the main role as hit-man Michael O'Sullivan who has to deal with the consequences of his son witnessing a Mafia killing.

The Hunter has also had sneaky peaks of a few hot new film previews this week. after the disaster, which was End of Days, Arnold Schwarzenegger's career looked to be facing the toilet bowl and gazing with great concern, and his follow up 6th Day to me looks like it could signal an up turn on his film quality graph. After peaking with T2 Judgement day a heart operation and a series of duds left the heavily paid star languishing, but 6th Day a cloning thriller looked to have the ingredients for a no-brainer, Arnie action extravaganza, but the additional bonus of Total Recall style questioning of reality, with no one knowing what the hell is going on. HMMMMM GREAT. Another eighties muscle-bound hero, the one from Brussels, Van Damme, is on the comeback as well, with rumour about that he will play Gambit in the already planned X-Men sequel. WELL I think I'll have to see that to believe it. Anyone remember Streetfighter?

I have it on good word that the much tipped for turkeydom Charlie's Angels film is a hell a lot of fun and with the team at pupiline being up for all things retro that can't be a bad thing. From what I've seen it has a strange comic book style to it, while swiping wholesale the action sequences from The Matrix, sounds interesting, it probably will be. That coupled with leading ladies Lucy Lui and Drew Barrymore looking mighty fine and Cameron Diaz being the sexiest woman alive, OOOOOHHHH MY, I think we could be in for a treat.

Other films that have had the Hunter's eyes pour over them are 'Lord of The Rings', looking great and very faithful (so good news for all you Tolkien fans), 'The Grinch' starring Jim Carrey which looks like a great Christmas film to thrill and scare you and yer parents and finally Keanu Reeves as a serial killer in 'The Watcher' which to be honest looked crap frankly but we'll see.

Anyway that's all folks, as bugs Bunny likes to say, come back soon when I'll probably find out that Hans Solo will be fighting Neo in a Matrix vs. Star Wars cross-over film with Wookies and Ewoks and all the bells on, or not.
