Final Destination @ Odeon STARRING: Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, Kristen Cloke, Seann William Scott VERDICT: Can You Cheat Death? This has to be the most enthralling and thrilling film I have ever seen. Unlike the "Scream" trilogy, Final Destination is based on supernatural powers rather than the role of a psychotic killer. Final Destination is directed by James Wong. Through Wong's careful direction, a thrilling plot is intertwined with a spine-chilling atmosphere to create a very thought provoking film. The film, although different from the other teen horror movies nevertheless contains many grotesque and violent scenes which leave the horror-hungry among us completely satisfied. I believe that the most horrific point about this film, is the plot around which it revolves. Wong makes this film completely believable which is why, if you have a weak heart (or even a slight inkling that you might be completely traumatized for the rest of your natural life!) it's probably best to see this film in the afternoon with some very comforting friends. The special effects in this film, although not spectacular, are good and help the film to flow smoothly as one by one, each character is killed. The subtle use of music also heightens the audiences reactions and adds to the "enjoyment" of the film. Although I don't think I ever want to see this film again, I'm glad I have seen it, as I can proudly say that I survived it - slightly scared, slightly more paranoid but nevertheless alive.
