As everybody knows, youth and politics aren't a very good combination. Many places it is considered not cool, to be interested or active in politics. The main reason for this is that most people think that it is only nerds who are interested in politics. In some cases, that is right. But of course politics isn't stuffed with boring nerds.
Many say that politics is boring, but how can it be that? It affects everything in the world! It affects how many hours you may work if you are under 18, and what the minimum salary should be. Something I think that we all are very interested in, at least all who has got a job. And when you finally get involved in politics, joining your local party youth institution, you will discover the fun sides of an election. It is really great to win a debate, against an opponent. And believe it or not, but it can be so very exiting to follow an election.
I, for an example, was involved in the Euro campaign in Denmark where I live. My party supported a yes to the Euro. And on the Election Day, and when the votes were counted, there was so much excitement in the air. Not to forget, there was also very quiet when we discovered we lost. Some cried, and you may think that's silly, or wussy-like. But no, it s not. We fought for what we thought would be good. We fought for something that would affect the whole of Europe. We fought for a united Europe, and we lost. So of course someone cried, cried over our lost cause. When you can cry when Arsenal lose a match, you can cry when you lose an election.
All in all, there is the fun sides of politics, and there is the very boring sides of politics. There is economics and finances, and that can be really boring. But lucky enough, economics isn't all.
